Doppler

Security, Identity & SecretsVerified SaaS

SecretOps platform for syncing environment variables and secrets across environments and teams.

Technical Overview & Architecture

Doppler is a SecretOps (secrets management and operations) platform that centralizes environment variables and application secrets in a single source of truth, automatically syncing them to all environments (development, staging, production) and team members without manual .env file management. Founded in 2018, Doppler is used by engineering teams to eliminate the #1 source of "it works on my machine" issues — inconsistent environment configurations between developers. Doppler's core workflow replaces `.env` files and manual secret sharing with a CLI that injects secrets as real environment variables at process startup: `doppler run -- node server.js` loads all secrets for the configured project/environment into the process environment without writing them to disk. This eliminates secrets in `.env` files committed to version control, secrets in Slack messages, and inconsistent variable naming between team members. Doppler Integrations sync secrets to AWS Secrets Manager, GCP Secret Manager, Azure Key Vault, HashiCorp Vault, Kubernetes secrets, Vercel, Netlify, GitHub Actions, and 30+ other secret stores — enabling teams to use Doppler as the editing interface while automatically pushing to the runtime secret systems their infrastructure already uses.
